Willow Construction was hired by Shore Health System of Maryland to renovate the rehabilitation area of its hospital in Easton. The project was designed around housing state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment and acute care. Patient accommodations include private and semi-private rooms and the capability to provide for special needs such as bariatric and negative pressure containment. The facility includes centralized nurse station and social therapy rooms. The Acute Rehabilitation Suite is located on the fifth floor of the hospital.

Project Challenges & Solutions
  • Working in an occupied hospital is always challenging. Close coordination allowed full access through our work zone to the neighboring birthing center.
  • The HVAC system serving the renovated area had to be connected to the roof-top mounted HVAC system that served multiple other floors. This had to be accomplished without interruption of surrounding areas. The connection was coordinated with the outside temperatures. All work associated with the tie-in, less the physical connection, was completed prior to the shut-down. All areas affected by the work were closely monitored and coordinated.
Awards & Accolades

“Watching the looks on the faces of patients and staff and hearing the wonderful comments about the project was inspiring.“
