Willow Construction was contracted to build the stand-alone Treatment Center specifically designed for patients suffering from cancer. Great care was given to make the center feel “like home” since lengthy procedures would require patients to spend hours at the center. The most recent project at this location was a complete interior renovation to the existing 4,254 s.f. space. The project was handled as Integrated Project Delivery; Willow offered assistance to A&E firm MCA with costing modules at the conceptual phase and offered value engineering at various stages of contract document preparation. The renovation provided much needed centralized treatment rooms that are closely monitored at the Nursing Station, as well as an expansion with three exam rooms and a connector to the adjoining doctors’ offices. The ability for the Cancer Specialist to directly access the treatment area allowed for improved use of space and better care for patients.

Project Challenges & Solutions
  • The weight of the concrete vault surrounding the Linear Accelerator required auger cast piling as the foundation.
  • Design needs were accomplished by meeting with individual user groups on a regular basis and offering solutions.
  • During the renovation, the remainder of the building was occupied. Great pains were taken to maintain a clean and safe environment.
