Willow Construction was selected to complete a phased 14,000 s.f. addition to the existing police department, as well as a renovation of the existing areas. The addition housed central command, special operations, provided new holding cells, and modernized the entire facility. The building was designed to separate specialties within the department and to allow the flow of day-to-day operations to minimize redundancies. The electrical technologies were a large part of the project, including specialized communications throughout the department, cameras placed within and around town, interrogations, and information technology. The existing facility remains a the primary pedestrian entrance and houses evidence holding, booking, conference rooms, specialty interrogations, and numerous support rooms. The work at the existing building consisted of a new entrance and complete renovations of the HVAC, electrical, and communications system.

Project Challenges & Solutions
  • This facility had to remain fully functional while completing the addition and interior renovations. All utility connections and interruptions were planned well in advance. The building was operational 24 hours a day, even when the generator and the backbone of the IT system were being replaced.
