Willow Construction was engaged by Shore Health System of Maryland to renovate space for new medical offices in Denton. A portion of the space serves three physicians, each with three exam rooms and an individual office. The other portion is dedicated to radiology and provides multi-use X-ray, mammography, and blood draw. The shared spaces include three waiting rooms and a breakroom. The electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system were completely replaced with modern equipment and controls. Willow coordinated location, rough-in, delivery and installation of mammography and X-ray equipment from the owner’s supplier. Willow and A&E firm Morris Ritchie Associates worked collaboratively to meet the tight schedule and even tighter budget.
Project Challenges & Solutions
- The budget was maintained by pricing numerous revisions, including conceptual plans and final plans. Also, a number of value engineering options were accepted to allow the budget to be maintained. The schedule was accomplished by overlapping scopes at the demolition phase and the construction phase, allowing the building construction to be completed in compartments.
