Cambridge International engaged Willow Construction to execute a large, occupied renovation project at their corporate headquarters. The project was completed in four phases. Phases 1 – 3 included demolition of the existing ceiling, asbestos floor and ceiling materials, lights, non-code compliant wiring and sprinkler heads, HVAC, plumbing fixtures, flooring, windows, doors, paneling, walls and stairs. Each of these were replaced with new materials. In addition, new metal stud walls, insulation, a kitchenette, galvanized exterior stairs, and window treatments were added. Phase 4 included demolition of existing masonry pilasters and partial concrete slab removal, along with installation of a new concrete foundation, slab, exterior façade, and trench drain.

Project Challenges & Solutions
  • The project included casework for the showroom to be furnished by the owner’s vendor. Ongoing collaboration with all parties was necessary to ensure that the casework was delivered and installed in accordance with the construction schedule.
  • The A/E firm for this project was located in Atlanta, Georgia. Willow Construction worked with this out-of-state firm to get plans altered to meet local code requirements. Throughout the process, our management team presented options to the owners to resolve these changes, resulting in cost savings.
  • Willow Construction coordinated with Hertrich to enable the service department to remain operational during construction.
